Player Notes in the Draft (Oct 17)

The New Jersey Devils needed to do some roster shuffling with players injured, players becoming healthy and not wanting to send anyone down to the minors at the moment. On Wednesday, the team placed Ryane Clowe on the Injured Reserve, retroactive to Sunday, so they could welcome back Mattias Tedenby from the non-roster IR.  Clowe has been dealing with a head injury, which the team is taking every precaution with, since he has a history of concussions in the past.  Clowe will be eligible to return on Sunday, but if this actually is anywhere close to a concussion, it may be longer.  Heading to the IR does open up a spot for Tedenby though, which is helpful.

Chris M. may not find the appointment to the IR all that helpful, as he remains in the mix at the top of the standings.  Chris finished up Wednesday night in 5th place, only 1 point from 3rd and 7 points from 1st.  Chris has been hovering around the average mark for games played and among the top for goalie minutes played, which has been a key part of his early season success.

On Wednesday, the New York Rangers didn't have the services of defenseman Michael Del Zotto for their game against the Washington Capitals, as a round of the flu is rolling through the NHL, it would seem.  It doesn't sound major, just your regular run-of-the-mill day off for recovery and I would imagine that Del Zotto should be good to go for their next game.

The one game away didn't seem to hurt Stacey M. too much, as she currently leads the pool in Week Three scoring through Wednesday night's action, with 14 points.  Stacey has moved into a tie for 3rd place, dropping to 4th on the tie-breaker and is only 6 points out of 1st place.  She is off to another good start this year after winning last year.

At Winnipeg Jets practice on Wednesday, Evander Kane was reported to have left practice early, with help from others, with a leg injury. Of course, there hasn't been much for concrete details, rather more speculation, but it looks like something worth monitoring.  Kane has been off to a reasonable start for the Jets this season, scoring 3 goals and 2 assists in the first seven games of the season.

This is even more bad news for John S., who currently sits in the basement of the pool, as he is losing ground to the rest of the pack.  John is now 7 points behind Stuart G. and 10 points back of Wyllie, so I could imagine seeing John hoping for a quick return to the ice for one of his key players.
