Tanguay Out Indefinitely

The diagnosis took a long time to come down from the Colorado Avalanche, but on Saturday, there was a comment made as to the status of forward Alex Tanguay and it wasn't very good. Head coach Patrick Roy said on Saturday morning that he doesn't expect Tanguay to be back in the line-up any time soon and will be listed as out indefinitely.

Tanguay has been out since the beginning of November with a knee injury and had been listed as out day-to-day for that time, but his status has now been downgraded with the news and his projected games have been struck from the standings.

At the time of the injury, Tanguay was off to a reasonable start with the Avalanche, scoring 3 goals and 6 assists in his first 13 games of the season.  As of Saturday morning, his ranking has dropped down to 204th in pool scoring, not having played in a couple of weeks.  Colorado has continued to roll in the league, even without Tanguay, so they won't be rushing him back too soon, by any stretch.

ImplicationsThis injury is compounding a problem that Wes M. has in his line-up, as his team is riddled with injuries.  There may be provisions this season to allow another round, if needed, in the Waiver Draft this time around, as he wouldn't be picking any superstars, but he would like to supplant some of his injuries with active bodies.  The extra round would be available to everyone, if we can get there this coming week.

Wes ranks dead last in skater games played with only 172 collected and goals scored with 28.  His goaltending has kept him in the race this year, as he ranks 12th in the standings, which is only halfway up or down.
