The San Jose Sharks announced a couple of free agent signings on Tuesday, as both back-up goaltender Alex Stalock and depth forward Mike Brown each received 2-year contract extensions. Cap hits were not immediately disclosed, but neither are expected to get much more than a nominal raise.
Stalock was scheduled to become a restricted free agent in a couple of weeks, while Brown was going to go unrestricted.
As for pool worthiness, the only one of the two is possibly Stalock, the back-up goalie, as he finished 43rd among goalies in points, picking up 28 points on 12 wins and 2 shutouts in 24 appearances in 2014. He would make for a very late goalie pick-up in a deep draft, but that's enough to get him a mention on the blog.
Since neither had cap hits announced, neither will make the projected roster until then, but as a reminder from the Sharks' Pool Outlook from earlier in the month, they have seven roster spots to give and about $14.2 million to spend. Neither of these two would go over the $1 million mark on their cap hit, so this should up the average value the Sharks can spend on the remaining five spots, when they're added.
