Player Notes in the Draft (Oct 26)

The San Jose Sharks and defenseman Jason Demers are entering into some tricky territory, as the veteran defenseman found himself as a healthy scratch for the second time this season, sitting for the game against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday afternoon.  The 26-year old defender signed a 2-year deal, worth $6.8 million in the off-season, but has seemingly been put on the hot seat and sitting when 35-year old Scott Hannan is getting regular time and rookie Mirco Mueller gets some time.  I am beginning to wonder if Demers will become trade bait before too long.

Not great news for Troy, who's team is barely hanging around the pool average in skater games played in the pool.  Troy's defense has been good, even without the production from Demers, however, ranking 5th in the pool with 19 points thus far.  If Demers could get going, his blueline would definitely rank among the best.

The Tampa Bay Lightning had to make some transactions on Saturday to accommodate their roster and those saw forwards Ryan Callahan and Alex Killorn head to the Injured Reserve, both moves being retroactive to when the players suffered their injuries, so they should be either eligible to come off right away or very soon.  Callahan is dealing with a lower-body injury and Killorn is dealing with an upper-body injury.  From what I've read, Killorn sounds like he's the closest of the two to returning, but was not able to go on Saturday night, which meant the team had to make room for a couple of call-ups.

Since both players are now on the IR, that means their projected games have been taken down to zero, but since it's Sunday and Tampa doesn't go today, they don't have anything projected for the week, so the impact will come next week.  Both Tony and Dale C. will see some impacted totals on Monday morning, after the audit and the Newsletter is published.
