Mason Expected to Miss Two Weeks

The Philadelphia Flyers have been quick to let everyone know about the Steve Mason situation, as the team has announced that their number one goalie will miss up to two weeks with his lower-body injury.  As mentioned earlier this morning, the lower-body injury is thought to be his right knee, which he seemed to favour when he came off the ice against the Bruins on Saturday afternoon.

The Flyers have already called up Rob Zepp to take Mason's spot and it looks like Ray Emery will get the call down the stretch here.

Mason has appeared in 29 games for the Flyers this season, but has only come away with 8 wins, 1 shutout and 2 assists this year, which is only good for 20 points in the draft.

There is no question that Mason has been a huge disappointment in the pool this year, as he was taken 28th overall in the 2nd round of the draft by Allan and with his point total, the 26-year old keeper ranks 208th overall in points.

In the midst of the weekly audit, Allan is only 1 point out of 23rd spot and the injuries are being racked up by his team will likely see him take the basement spot before too long.

On another note, it is remarkable that Mason hasn't made my annual Injury Prone List, but I think in this off-season he will join a few players as the new class of risky players to take in your hockey pool draft.  His list of career injuries is quite long, so the risk is increasingly high when you take him your pool.

An updated list of injuries can be found here.
