Player Notes from the Draft (Jan 13)

Looks like there was only one quick note from Monday's games, as Toronto forward Leo Komarov left the game against Los Angeles with a shoulder injury, more for precautionary measures, according to the coaching staff.  Komarov reportedly crashed heavily into the boards during the game and left with a shoulder stinger and now his availability for Wednesday's game in Anaheim is now thought to be questionable, at best.  He'll be day-to-day on the injury page, if he misses the game and there are no further updates on his condition.

Grant K. has not had much luck with Komarov since picking him up in the Waiver Draft, as he has only seen six games worth of action and only 2 points.  The situation hasn't exactly improved, obviously, as another injury has happened, which potentially could mean more time missed.

It was confirmed on Tuesday morning, New Jersey Devils forward Jaromir Jagr won't be traveling with the team to Los Angeles to start their road trip, which begins with a game against the Kings on Wednesday and continues through California afterwards. There is no word on how many games Jagr is expected to miss, but he'll miss Wednesday's game to start, this much we know.

Obviously, not the news that Cam wanted to see this morning, as his pool team now sits in 5th place in the standings and 10 points back of 3rd.  Jagr may not be his best forward, but there has been some semblance of consistency in his game, which Cam likely was relying upon.

Well, the word out of Pittsburgh is that defenseman Olli Maatta might be heading for the surgeon's table, as his shoulder injury has not been healing nearly as well as the player or the team would have hoped.  Maatta has already been out since the middle of December and there is a pretty good chance that Maatta will now miss the remainder of the regular season, possibly even the playoffs, after the surgery.  The Penguins are awaiting the official word from the doctors, but this is what they are looking to expect.

If that is indeed the case, Cam's second segment likely just got a little bit more difficult to succeed in, as he'll be down a man for the rest of the segment and he'll likely be looking to make that swap in the Week Eighteen Waiver Draft.  This could be a real rough patch for him coming up, but being as though it is only a defender out for that time, it won't be the worst thing that could happen.
