Player Notes in the Draft (Jan 15)

It's not too often when a team's leading goal scorer is a healthy scratch for a game, but that was indeed the case for the Anaheim Ducks, as they scratched forward Matt Beleskey for their game against the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.  Beleskey was the leading goal scorer going into the game last night, having 17 goals and 22 points on the year, but obviously there was a portion of his game that the coaching staff was not partial to, so he sat.  In the game, Corey Perry scored a hat-trick, which now put him in front of team goal scoring, just as a side note.

Remarkably, Beleskey was picked up in the Waiver Draft, through Brenda's disgust about how poorly Ales Hemsky was playing in Dallas, but since the swap, Hemsky has been the better of the two players, picking up 10 points to Beleskey's 7 points over the same span.

A lower-body injury may keep Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan from playing on Thursday night, home to the Calgary Flames, but that has yet to be confirmed, as of Wednesday night.  It sounds like Doan blocked a shot with his foot recently and it has left him somewhat hobbled, although there has been no mention of any broken bones or any bruising, for that matter.  If he misses the game, he will be listed as out day-to-day.

Grant K.'s team has been hobbled a bit this season, as they finished up Monday night down in 18th in skater games played this year and missing out on another game from Doan won't help matters any.  Grant is still 30 games up on Benson for the Jordan bobblehead, but his injuries have been piling up.

An updated list of injuries can be found here.
