McElhinney Comfy in Jackets

There was a certain comfort level appreciated with the re-signing of Curtis McElhinney in Columbus on Wednesday afternoon, as the Jackets didn't jump on the wide open goalie market that will be upon us shortly, rather, they committed to their tandem from last season, expecting good results.

McElhinney signed a 2-year deal, which carries a cap hit of $800,000 per season and will play behind Sergei Bobrovsky for yet another couple of seasons.

In recent memory, McElhinney has been one of the more reliable back-ups, especially for us hockey poolies, although, he may not be the guy that will win you a pool.  If you're left with very few goalie options, late on in the draft, the 32-year old will give you around a point for every 60 minutes on the ice.

In 2015, he appeared in 32 games, picking up 24 points, ranking him 40th among goalies in scoring.  Depending on how much he actually plays, he can be a viable option for a 14th round goalie pick.
