Demers Gets Two Games for Elbowing

The NHL sentenced another player to a suspension on Friday, as Dallas Stars defenseman Jason Demers was handed a 2-game ban for his reckless elbow on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Nick Bonino.

The play in question happened late in the game on Thursday night and as you can see in the video below, how much force Demers used to Bonino's face.

Demers will now miss Saturday's game, home to the Florida Panthers, and Tuesday's game, home to the Anaheim Ducks.

This season, the 27-year old defenseman has appeared in seven games with the Stars, scoring 1 goal and 3 assists, while adding 17 PIM to Brenda & Seward's account in the PIM pool (a huge help, by the way).

The 2-game suspension isn't a very long one, so it should only act as a small blip in the radar, especially given that Demers was their 12th round pick, 313th overall.  Already, he ranks 141st in pool scoring, so he should still be a bargain pick-up by the time he returns from his suspension.
