Goalie Announcements (Oct 9)

11 out of 27 teams are now qualified to move on in the goalie survivor pool after two nights of hockey this week and we still have three nights left to play.

The biggest goalie announcement of the day is that Jaroslav Halak is still reeling from an upper-body injury, which he suffered in the preseason, so that means Thomas Greiss gets the start for the Islanders in their first game of the season, opening up against Corey Crawford and the Chicago Blackhawks.  Greiss will give Eric a shot at getting on the board with the goalie survivor pool, while Crawford gets a second chance to help Stuart into the game tonight.

Troy has a couple of chances to get on the board in the survivor pool, as he has both Cory Schneider in New Jersey and Sergei Bobrovsky in Columbus going tonight, in separate games.  Schneider takes on Michael Hutchinson (Mike) and the Winnipeg Jets, while Bobrovsky gets the tough task of Henrik Lundqvist (Derek B.) and the Rangers.  Mike could use a win to get on the board as well, while Derek B. already has his win this week.

Jonathan Bernier (Cindy) is the expected starter for the Leafs, when they visit Jimmy Howard (Stacey M.) and the Red Wings tonight, as Cindy looks for her first win of the season tonight.  Stacey already notched a win in the first two nights.

Finally, it's Mike Smith (Dale B.) versus Jonathan Quick (Brenda & Seward) in Los Angeles tonight, as the Coyotes take on the Kings.  Both pool teams in this match-up are still looking for their first win for the survivor pool.
