Goalie Announcements (Nov 7)

Well, Jeff Zatkoff did earn a win for the Penguins over the Oilers on Friday night, which gave Allan his win to stay in the survivor pool and leaves only Derek W. to give it a shot on Saturday.

The early word on Saturday morning is that Derek will only have one of his two goalies starting today, as it is expected that Devan Dubnyk will go for the Minnesota Wild, likely taking on Ben Bishop of the Tampa Bay Lightning in one of the early evening games in St. Paul, MN.  So, the plus side is that it is a home game for Dubnyk (and Derek), but the negative side is that the Lightning are running quite hot at the moment and it will be a tough sell.

Derek's only other chance was going to be Steve Mason for the Philadelphia Flyers, but the Flyers are reportedly opting to go with Michal Neuvirth tonight, which is good news for our pool leader, Neil, as he tries to pad his lead in the standings.  The Flyers are going to be taking on the Jets in Winnipeg, which is going to be a tough game for Philly and the Jets will have Ondrej Pavelec (Stuart) in their net tonight.

By my early count today, we're expecting to see four pool teams with both of their goalies going tonight and those teams include: Benson, Brenda & Seward, Neil and Scott.  Not all of those goaltenders have officially been confirmed, but according to goaliepost.com this morning, that's what teams are likely leaning towards.

Everything gets started here shortly this morning, so get your snacks ready for some early games, if you so desire.
