Parise Week-to-Week

The word came down on the severity of Zach Parise's knee injury, which he had suffered on Thursday night against the Nashville Predators and it is a sprained MCL in his knee and he will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, likely ending up on the Injured Reserve here before too long.

Obviously, the news could have been much worse for the franchise forward in Minnesota, but it still isn't great news, as he will likely be out of the lineup for at least a few weeks.

Already this season, Parise has 7 goals and 2 assists in 12 games played, scoring at a very good clip, but with a few less games than a number of teams, his ranking only tops out at 100th, going into Saturday's action.

Benson was getting about the right production from his 4th round pick, as he had taken Parise with the 90th overall selection, so he was about in the same round at this point in the season, but he will now certainly fall in the rankings, but it's only a question of 'how far?'

Before play got started on Saturday afternoon, Benson's team was sitting in 18th place, having picked up 13 points in the week and sitting 24 points back of the money.  His team doesn't sit in the top five of either the rookie scoring pool or the PIM pool and his team was an early elimination from the survivor pool, so he might have to come up with some creative solutions, when the Waiver Draft rolls around.
