Afternoon Player Notes in the Draft (Dec 5)

An undisclosed injury will sideline Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang this afternoon, as they go up against the Los Angeles Kings, he's now on the list as being out day-to-day.  There were no real details given about the injury, except that he won't play.  On the plus side, Olli Maatta is scheduled to take his place, as he comes back from an upper-body injury.

Letang will be taken out of Jeremy's lineup for the night, which makes the 6-point gap between his team and 1st place a little harder to close, but Dale C. will get one last game out of the young defender, before he gets dropped on Monday, a deal done in the Waiver Draft.

The San Jose Sharks are expecting to be without Marc-Edouard Vlasic tonight, when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning, as he is dealing with a lower-body injury.  The Sharks have him listed as out day-to-day for right now, having recalled Mirco Mueller to take his place tonight.

Vlasic has been a bargain pick for Clayton in the draft this year, taken in the 13th round, he now ranks among those in the 9th round with 11 points this season.

A recurring lower-body injury is to blame for James Reimer finding his way back to the shelf this weekend, as he is now scheduled to miss the next two games, at the very least, including Saturday night's game in St. Louis. He's going to be on the list as out day-to-day and the team will likely re-evaluate him early next week.

With Reimer out, Jonathan Bernier in the minors, it is now left to Garret Sparks to start for the Maple Leafs and he will become active on Ryan's team next week.  Reimer, who belongs to John S., should be able to reclaim the number one spot, unless Sparks has himself an astounding pair of games.

As the puck drops in the Washington/Winnipeg game, the news came out that Marcus Johansson would not be playing for the Capitals in this matinee, as he's dealing with a lower-body injury and he'll be on the shelf, day-to-day.  I would expect more of an update after the game or on Sunday, so we'll watch out for that.

This injury will not help Brenda & Seward pad their lead in the Mover & Shaker race this week, as they have almost been running away with it this week.  They have a 5-point lead in the race, going into Saturday's action, but they are now down a man and there are a bunch of teams hungry for points today.
