Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Dec 20)

It was just a healthy scratch for New Jersey Devils forward Jordin Tootoo on Saturday night, as the coaching staff opted to go in a different direction against the Anaheim Ducks, who were visiting.  Tootoo has provided more of a physical spark for the Devils this season, but has contributed a little bit at the offensive end of the ice as well.  The Devils go again on Sunday, which should mean he'll figure back in, against the Bruins in Boston.  That will be a rough and tumble game.

Wes is hoping for bigger and better things in the penalty minutes department, as he has yet to realize his potential in the lineup thus far.  In five games since being activated from the Waiver Draft, Tootoo has 2 assists and 2 PIM, one being more important to his cause than the other.

The injury bug continues to chomp down on the Montreal Canadiens, as they lost the services of defenseman Jeff Petry against the Dallas Stars, in their 6-2 loss on Saturday night. Petry took a thunderous check from Jamie Benn, sending him hard into the boards and Petry was not in good shape leaving the ice and not returning to the game. Early speculation is that he won't be ready for the start of Week Twelve, likely out on Monday night against Nashville, but he'll be listed as day-to-day until otherwise noted.

Stacey M. finished the night in 10th place, now 25 points out of the money and definitely in need of some more contributions all the way around her lineup.  Here defense has been very good since the Waiver Draft players came around, as her team ranks tied for 3rd in scoring since the start of Week Ten with 14 points.
