Afternoon Player Notes in the Draft (Mar 9)

Better late than never?  The Columbus Blue Jackets, 11 points out of the wild card in the East, will welcome back their number one keeper on Friday, as they have activated Sergei Bobrovsky from the Injured Reserve on Wednesday and will get the Penguins as his first assignment since returning.  In response to the activation, the Jackets have returned Joonas Korpisalo back down to the AHL and it will be business as usual... or something close.

The loss of Bobrovsky was a crippling blow to Troy's season, especially not having since the end of January and his return will act as very little solace.  Troy's team now sits in 19th place and now adding the two projected games at the end of the week, takes his team out from being the team with the least amount of games to play this week.

The Minnesota Wild are hosting the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night and they could be doing so without forward Jason Pominville, who is questionable with a lower-body injury, as of Wednesday.  Pominville has been a pretty good healthy option for the Wild over the last few years, playing in 231 consecutive games with the team, but that's been called into question with this injury.  We'll see how that plays out.

More concern for Dale B., whose team sits in 14th place, 24 points ahead of Troy at the moment... just for comparison purposes.  Dale's team has been slipping down the standings in the last little while and now some injury problems look to aid the sliding process.

One more note from Tuesday night... as Dallas Stars defenseman Jason Demers awkwardly fell into the boards last night against the Stars, left the game and the initial prognosis is very negative. The coaching staff don't believe that he'll play again in the regular season, but that has still yet to be confirmed. We can say he left the game, no one thought it looked too good and we'll await further information.

This does add a little bit more intrigue to the top of the standings, as Brenda & Seward have moved back to 1st place, but it could get a little more unsettled with this injury.  Demers has 23 points this season and has contributed well.  It's not a crushing blow, but it won't make things easier down the stretch.
