Morning Player Notes in the Draft (May 3)

There is no question that Pittsburgh rookie goalie Matt Murray is stealing the show in the Capitals/Penguins series, as another huge effort led to a huge 3-2 victory on Monday night and a 2-1 series lead.  Murray, a non-pool player this season, made 47 stops for the win.  Boy, is this kid making a case for next season or what?

Two goals in a minute in the 1st period was a great way to start for the Penguins, who added another one in the 2nd period and took a 3-0 lead into the final frame.  Then it was time to batten down the hatches and hold on for dear life, as the vaunted Capitals offense tried to come back, but fell one goal short in the end.

For notable players in the pool... Carl Hagelin earned the bonus point for credit on the game-winning goal, while Alex Ovechkin had a goal and an assist in the comeback attempt.  That's it.  That's all we've got.

News this morning suggests that Kris Letang will be on the carpet today at some point, for his crushing hit on Marcus Johansson in last night's game.  Letang was a marked man after that hit and now the league has their sights on him as well.  After Brooks Orpik's hit on Olli Maatta in Game 2, this is becoming a sensitive issue.
