Morning Player Notes in the Playoffs (May 18)

The San Jose Sharks were not going to let the St. Louis Blues get away with complete home-ice advantage in this series and they made that statement abundantly clear on Tuesday night, gearing up the offense for four goals in a 4-0 shutout victory.

The Sharks were on the board early, as Tommy Wingels scored the opening (and eventual winning) goal just after the two minute mark and it was the Martin Jones show afterwards, as he made 26 saves for the 4 points in the hockey pool.

Brent Burns continued his tear in these playoffs, picking up another pair of goals, while Logan Couture had a couple of assists, each getting mentions again in the morning after blog post.

ImplicationsJones belongs to two teams in the pool this Spring and it should come as no surprise that those two teams are near the top of the standings, as Stuart continues to lead and Scott is trying to track down Kristy with his Sharks goalie.  Stuart now holes a 16-point lead and a 2-point lead in this round over Kristy, while Kristy is still holding on to 2nd place, 1 point better than Scott in these Conference Finals, through four games.

I don't think this will change any time soon, barring a catastrophic result in one of these games in the next week.
