Parenteau Lands in Brooklyn

The New York Islanders continued to address their need for some more of a veteran presence, signing forward P-A Parenteau to a new 1-year, $1.25 million contract on Saturday afternoon.

Parenteau joins newcomers Andrew Ladd and Jason Chimera on a team that has lots of younger talent in their ranks, but may have lacked a little direction, especially when it came down to playoff time.

The 33-year old Parenteau was a productive member of the Maple Leafs last season, finishing the year with 20 goals and 41 points in 77 games, but he wasn't going to lift that team out of the last place hole that they were aiming for.

There are a few new faces on this Islanders team, which means that there will be some shuffling around, when it comes to training camp and line combinations, but at first glance, it would appear that the Islanders are prepared to move forward and a guy like Parenteau should be able to contribute his 20 goals again, no problem.
