Top Prospect Signing (Jul 16)

The Buffalo Sabres were in on the act of signing one of their top prospects on Friday, as they inked the 8th overall selection from this June's entry draft, forward Alexander Nylander, to his 3-year entry-level deal.  Of course, being a 1st round pick, he will earn the top salary cap hit of $925,000 and numerous bonuses, which could get him close to $1.8 million per season, if they're hit.

The Sabres were able to add another offensively gifted forward, offering up a little bit more finesse than some of their other young pillars for the future, but could provide a much-needed element to their side, as they work towards the playoffs.

By my count, there are about three spots left to really fight it out for on the Sabres roster, heading into training camp, but the expectation isn't to push Nylander, but I'm sure if he plays well, he can earn one of those spots.
