Goalie Announcements (Sep 20)

It's rivalry day, as they say on the television, at the World Cup of Hockey.  Day 4 will feature a couple of games with teams behind the 8-ball and they'll be trying to swing their way out.

Finland will play as the visitors against their bitter rivals from Sweden, as they try and work their way out of a 0-1-0 hole in the standings.  Both teams come into this one with goaltending questions, as the Finnish coaching staff didn't seem to put off by Pekka Rinne's performance against North America, while Sweden is waiting to hear what the status of Henrik Lundqvist is after his bout of the flu.

As the morning dragged on, Lundqvist was given the green light to start for Sweden and game one's starter, Jacob Markstrom, will act as the back-up.  This is good news for Cam, who certainly needed that game one win, but will have to settle for Lundqvist making his first start today.  And to no one's surprise, it will be Tuukka Rask in net for the Finns, as the team opts for a switch after Rinne's shaky performance.  No one opted for Rask at the draft, so any wins for him will go uncollected.

In the late game, the Americans will have home-ice advantage, as they try and work their way out of their one loss hole, but they get the test of a red-hot Team Canada, who decimated the Czechs on opening night.  There are no goaltending questions in this one, as Jonathan Quick will get the call for the US again, while Carey Price will start again for the Canadians.

Unless there is a barn-burning kind of game, Dale should be finishing with a win of one fashion or another, since he holds both starting goalies in this game.  It looks like a solid 2 points that we're all going to have to make up in other ways.
