Goalie Announcements (Sep 9)

The long-awaited word for Canadian hockey fans and Montreal Canadiens fans is that Carey Price has been given the green light to go and he will make his first start since last November tonight, when Canada takes on the USA in Columbus in their first pre-tournament game.  Price has a very good shot at being the goalie of preference to start the tournament and how he plays tonight will be the most telling, one would assume.  A starting role will mean that he'll go really high in the pool draft on Sunday.

For the USA, they will counter with Jonathan Quick on Friday night and you would have to believe that his previous experience will make him the leading contender to be in the net for the Americans when they start the tournament against Team Europe on the 17th.  It doesn't sound like he will get the full game, however, as Ben Bishop has been penciled in to get some time in tonight, maybe a chance to both see the towering keeper and keep Quick fresh moving forward, who's really to say?

This is the only game of the day, but it is an exciting one, regardless.  This is a 5pm MT start on Sportsnet, just in case you're living under a rock.
