Afternoon Player Notes in the Draft (Dec 23)

Looks like Cody Franson was a healthy scratch for the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night against the Hurricanes, as there was no mention of any injury on the news pages around the league. The Sabres are in Brooklyn to finish off the pre-holiday schedule tonight and it will be interesting to see if he draws back in or if there is any injury to actually report.

For Dale C., Franson has certainly underachieved this season, picking up 8 points in the first 31 games, but there wasn't too much he could do with his blueline at the Waiver Draft, so he appears to be stuck with him for the long haul.

Los Angeles forward Tyler Toffoli was held of Thursday night's 4-0 shutout win over the Predators, due to a lower-body injury.  I would have my doubts that he would be good to go for their finale to the holiday schedule, tonight in Dallas, but he is listed as day-to-day and could probably use the extra time off to heal.

Dale B. has had some tough days in the health department, leading up to the Christmas break and his team could really use some rest, as they try and keep up in the money race.

It sounds like Zach Parise was under the weather on Thursday night, when the Wild took on the Canadiens.  The Wild didn't seem to miss him though, as they were able to go into Montreal and come out with a 4-2 win.  The Wild are on Broadway tonight, his return will probably be questionable, at best.

Stuart's 9th place team has been doing quite well this week, so far with 18 points and has moved up a couple spots in the table, even with missing a key game from Parise.  Can his team keep that pace up?

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been mired with injuries for the better part of this season and it continued to hurt them on Thursday night, when forward Vladislav Namestnikov was held out because of an undisclosed injury.  He's currently listed as day-to-day and I have my doubts that he'll be in the lineup for tonight's game in Washington.  Day-to-day does give an impression that he could be back after the break though.

Ryan's proxy team hasn't been great out of the Waiver Draft, as it continues to take a bit of a tumble.  I would imagine that he will be hoping for a bounce back effort after the break next week, a little treat that he could find in his stocking on Sunday morning.
