There have been quite a few significant news bytes this Saturday morning and the last one of the bunch comes from Boston, where one of the NHL's top goal scorers will now miss some time after elbow surgery on Friday night.
Boston forward David Pastrnak had to undergo surgery to remove an olecranon bursa in his elbow, a surgery that is very similar to the one that teammate David Backes had to undergo earlier this season. If Backes' recovery was any indication, it was about two weeks of being on the shelf, before he returned to action and it would be very fair to think that Pastrnak would take about the same amount of time.
Of course, this is a pretty big blow to the Bruins' lineup, as Pastrnak ranks 2nd overall in goal scoring this season with 19 markers on the season and in total he has 26 points in 27 games. That's good enough for 36th overall in pool scoring, making him into a solid 2nd round pick, if we were to redo the draft today.
Despite having one of the league's best scorers, Ryan's team has seen a tumble in recent weeks, being 8th as late as the end of Week Seven and has since dropped down to 16th, as teams around his has taken their new Waiver Draft picks and ran with them, finding new successes. Ryan's team will open Saturday's play 25 points out of the money and will likely be without one of his best players for a couple of weeks.
