Ericsson Finished With Broken Wrist

The Detroit Red Wings were going to be in need of some salary cap shuffling, with the recall of Jimmy Howard from his conditioning stint in the AHL and it just so happened that rugged defenseman Jonathan Ericsson was the victim of a broken wrist, one that will require surgery. The Red Wings were quick to put him on the Long-Term Injured Reserve, as they know that he will be expected to miss 8-to-12 weeks with the injury, effectively ending his regular season.

Ericsson's season was not exactly made for the overall race in the hockey pool, rather he was a leader in the PIM department.  In 51 games this season, the 32-year old only had 1 goal and 9 points, while accumulating 63 minutes in penalties.

This is a pretty solid kick to the pants of Kristy & Don, who hesitantly took Ericsson to somewhat acknowledge that their only chance at winning their money back was to gooning it up.  They took the Swede in the second Waiver Draft and effectively got nothing from him.  No points, no minutes and that's it.  An unlucky season takes another shot in the teeth.
