Lower-Body Injury Rests Lundqvist

The lower-body injury that New York Rangers keeper Henrik Lundqvist is dealing with appears to be much worse than originally thought, as the team announced on Saturday morning that he would now be out of the lineup for the next 2-to-3 weeks.

With the team firmly in a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, the team can seemingly afford to have their number one on the shelf in the last 4+ weeks of the season and the timing for a return couldn't be much better, if he was to take the entire three weeks off.  A week to regain form before a playoff run, that could go a long way for a good playoff run.

It certainly won't help Lundqvist's numbers for the 2017 season though, as he pauses his season in 19th place overall in pool scoring, appearing in 51 games, picking up 30 wins, 2 shutouts and an assist for 65 points this year.  Among all goalies, he ranks 9th in a good year for players that man the crease.

For Grant, it has been a pretty rough go this year and his team has found some bad luck through it, including injuries and mostly inconsistent play.  His team will go into Saturday's action in 17th place,  3 points behind 16th and 5 points ahead of 18th.
