Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Mar 10)

The Calgary Flames walloped the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night and it came at a cost, losing two key defensemen to injury in the process.  Season stalwart Dougie Hamilton and deadline newcomer Michael Stone both left the game against the Habs, not to return.  Hamilton left in the 2nd period with a lower-body injury, while Stone left in the 3rd with an upper-body injury, believed to be a shoulder issue.  There wasn't any significant update on Friday morning, but they will likely be looked at ahead of Saturday's contest in Winnipeg.

Hamilton has some play in the money race, as Ryan's defense is really taking a shit-kicking in the last week or so.  Ryan's team did not have a great night on Thursday, dropping in the pack, down to 7th place and is now 6 points back of 3rd.  Stone belongs to Grant, who sees his team having a decent week, up with 17 points, but it's too little, too late for his pool team.

The Ottawa Senators didn't have tough guy Mark Borowiecki in their lineup on Thursday night against the Coyotes, but that didn't have a great effect on the outcome, as the much-stronger Senators team were able to sneak past the dogs for a 3-2 win.  Borowiecki is suffering from an upper-body injury, but the team has him listed as day-to-day and his availability for Colorado is questionable, at best.

Troy's goon squad is really getting tested physically of late, but they are now finding their swing, as they are tied for the weekly lead in PIM with Marcin's team at 28 minutes, closing the gap on the leaders.  Troy's team has made up 22 minutes on Marcie's leading team this week and they are punching their way to the top three here soon.

The Tampa Bay Lightning were also losing winners on Thursday night, as they beat the Minnesota Wild, 4-1, but they lost three forwards, including key pool player Tyler Johnson.  Johnson suffered a lower-body injury, when he was pinned up against the boards around the knees by Nino Niederreiter.  Johnson left the game, not to return and it sounds like he's doubtful for Saturday's contest against the rivals from across the state.  He'll be day-to-day until the Bolts report any differently.

Jeremy is also hanging with the group that is looking for 3rd place in the standings, but his team fell off the pace a little, sitting in 6th place, a point better than Ryan's team, but still 5 points out of the money.  Johnson is a significant loss, as the Lightning are starting to find their stride again and anything long-term could be a crushing blow.
