Golden Knights Add Shipachyov

Usually, these big logo posts are for pool worthy forwards from the season previous, but there is a lot of high expectations on Vadim Shipachyov, a highly-touted Russian forward, who has lit up the KHL for the last couple of years and has a couple of championships under his belt.

The Vegas Golden Knights announced on Thursday night, that they were the fortunate ones to sign the prolific Russian, giving him a 2-year deal, reportedly worth $9 million in total.  The 30-year old stays out of the entry-level contract talk and goes right into a free agent deal, which will be a $4.5 million cap hit for those two seasons.

With SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL in the 2017 season, Shipachyov played in 50 games, scoring 26 goals and 76 points, good enough for 3rd in league scoring this year.

Another thing to point out for us poolies next season, as he is over 26 years old, he won't be able to qualify for the rookie pool, as his eligibility has already run out.  Nevertheless, the lack of North American knowledge of this guy, could see him fall into the bargain bin at the next draft.
