Afternoon Off-Season Injury Notes (Sep 11)

The Ottawa Senators held their annual golf tournament on Monday, ahead of all the training camp festivities, and in doing so, the media got their pens ready for captain Erik Karlsson, who suggested that he is still two or three weeks away from getting back on the ice from his foot surgery and the recovery from said surgery has forced him from a lot of his off-season training and he is nowhere near game ready.

With all of that being said now, what is the expectation for the return of the dynamic defenseman?  Well, it could be as late as November, before Karlsson returns to active duty and the Senators play a total of 12 games in the month of October, nearly 15% of their games.

In my projections, that will take his numbers down by about two brackets, 10 points, down to the 65-point range, which is still a pretty high pick, but I don't think I would take him in the 1st round now, especially if I have to wait until November to get my top pick in the lineup.
