Parise Undergoes Back Surgery

Late on Monday evening, there were rumblings that back surgery was a possibility for Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise and first thing on Tuesday morning, the rumours were indeed true, as the team announced that Parise had undergone microsdectomy surgery and his timeline for recovery is now set at 8-to-10 weeks.

Parise has yet to take the ice for the Wild, unable to go in training camp, the preseason and now the first three weeks of the season, as his back issues have been up-and-down and obviously to the point, where surgery was the necessary option.

The health situation from Parise and the Wild was somewhat misleading, as there were some reports that he could have been back at the beginning of the regular season or any time in the last three weeks, but now it has been extended for another two months or more.  This is certainly a huge disappointment for Neil, who opted to take Parise in around the spot that he should have been taken, if he was healthy, in and around the 6th round.  Now, Neil is without a key forward for the remainder of the first segment of the season and he'll have to choose whether or not he's worth keeping through the first Waiver Draft.
