Afternoon Player Notes in the Draft (Nov 21)

Reports have surfaced that Semyon Varlamov won't be able to start for the Avalanche tomorrow night, with the Dallas Stars in town, as he is currently under the weather. It's unclear whether or not the Avalanche will call-up a goalie or whether or not Varlamov will be okay enough to at least backup Jonathan Bernier.  If he can't go, he'll be listed as out day-to-day, but for now, he's just doubtful for tomorrow's game.

For Stacey C.'s team, his team is right in the thick of the goalie survivor pool and as you'll see in half an hour, he's already missing out on a start tonight, thanks to the Flyers, but they are on back-to-backs, so his Philadelphia starter will likely play then.  Still, this is eating up his projected games and lessening his chances at survival.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are also expecting not to have Evgeni Malkin tomorrow night with the Vancouver Canucks in town.  Malkin is reportedly dealing with an upper-body injury and will be listed as day-to-day, as soon as the roster report comes out.  Malkin didn't practice with the team today and they'll be waiting a couple of days before reevaluating him for his weekend status.

Malkin belongs to Stuart's team and Stuart can't really afford to have Malkin out for too long, not only for his overall totals, but for most of his side bets as well.  We're still not sure how bad the injury is, so it's hard to prepare for the worst, but as these Penguins injuries go, you just never know how bad they are until it's too late.
