Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Nov 16)

The Calgary Flames had to go with Eddie Lack in net against the Red Wings, which didn't last very long, as the Flames were shelled in this one.  Number one goalie Mike Smith did eventually join the team on this current road trip, after he was hurt on Monday night.  The official word is that Smith is day-to-day and he could be good to go on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Ryan will be keen to see whether or not he'll have his goalie in the lineup on Saturday, as his team has inched closer to the pack in 22nd spot.  His team might be 31 points from the money right now, but it all starts with a couple points here and his team could find a hot streak.

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Trevor Daley left the slaughtering of the Flames early, dealing with an upper-body injury.  The reports after the game suggested that the coaching staff  were slightly optimistic about his status going forward.  The consider him day-to-day, questionable for Friday's game against the Sabres, but they wouldn't be surprised if he missed 10 days either.  We'll probably know more when we get closer to Friday's game.

Jeremy's team isn't going to be held down for very long, as they are vying for another Mover & Shaker through three nights worth of action, retaking 1st place with the big night last night.  Daley only has 1 point this season, so Jeremy isn't quite missing him... yet.

The lack of action and the upcoming schedule could be two good reasons why the Nashville Predators have sent backup goalie Juuse Saros to the AHL today, calling up Anders Lindback to take his place.  I couldn't imagine that this is a long-term demotion, mostly just that Saros hasn't played and could probably use some reps in some game action.  The Predators will have to get Lindback to clear waivers to head back down to the AHL, so he might end up there longer than expected.

Eric has only picked up 2 points from his two goalies, including Saros, and only Steve has less minutes played by their goalies, so far this season.  The demotion for Saros should at least get him going again, for when the Predators' schedule ramps up again.
