Luongo Out for Extended Period of Time

The news started to trickle in on Wednesday morning, as the Florida Panthers placed goaltender Roberto Luongo on the Injured Reserve, retroactive to the game on Monday night, and calling up Harri Sateri to take his spot in the goaltending tandem.

The reports from the Florida coaching staff is that Luongo will be out of the lineup for an extended period of time, but also confirmed that the injury had nothing to do with the hip surgery he had in the off-season.  It's still a bit vague, so we'll see what comes of this, but it doesn't sound great for the immediate future.

This season, the veteran keeper has made 15 appearances for the Panthers, registering 6 wins, a shutout and an assist for 15 points in pool scoring, good enough to be ranked 202nd.

For Stuart, this comes as a pretty big blow to start the second segment of the season, as his team is now left with his newly-picked backup goalie in New Jersey for the next little while, as his team will try and stay within arm's reach of the money spot.  Stuart's team finished Tuesday night in 4th place, only 2 points back of 2nd and 3rd.
