Goalie Announcements (Jan 8)

The CBA-mandated bye weeks are hitting 13 teams in the league in Week Fifteen, as they all have one game to be played and they are happening throughout the week, so it's really going to be a mixed bag of results.

So, on Monday, it begins quietly, with only one game on the schedule and no goalie survivor pool implications on it at all.  The match-up still remains somewhat interesting, as it is a good Eastern Conference battle between two 3rd place teams in their respective divisions.  Now the question is whether or not this is a good pool match-up game.

Sergei Bobrovsky (Derek B.) versus Frederik Andersen (Mike)
The Blue Jackets hosted the Panthers on Sunday night, but that won't stop them from playing their top dog in this key game in the east, as Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to get the nod again tonight.  At the other end, it will be Frederik Andersen getting yet another start for the Maple Leafs, as he has been getting the bulk of the work this year.

Bobrovsky represents Derek B.'s 12th place team, while Andersen is the number one goalie for Mike's 18th place team.  The two sides are six places and 22 points apart, as we're now seeing more and more separation in the standings and it's going to get harder and harder for the teams below the equator (13th) to make the move up towards the top.

Derek's team is 33 points out of the money and that gap has to start shrinking right away for his team to have a shot at some cash in April.
